NFPA project part 1

NFPA Project Description

You have been asked to turn a basketball court in the NAB gym into a theater. your client wants to seat 250 parents for the performance in the court area. The bleachers will be closed. The presenters own 250 stacking chairs that can lock together. The chairs are 2′-0″ x 2′-0″. Using the information you have collected measuring the gym create a ground plan without the seating and stage. Be sure to include the lines that define the basketball playing area.

Project Drawing

Rename the drawing as a copy, then add in the stage and seating. You have a maximum of 250 2′-0″ x 2′-0″ chairs. The chairs and stage must be inside the basketball playing area. Your stage is 16’x16′. You must include the use of two staircases that are 4’x4′.

Use the information you learned from the NFPA lecture to determine the aisle sizes and locations. Keep in mind the locations of the four fire exits.

An example of the details needed on your drawing are below

NYC LOCAL LAWS: Seating Standards information below

  1. Aisles must be 3 or more feet wide
