Brooklyn Navy Yard Internship Form

The summer 2024 internship Deadline was February 26th. However, if you missed it, you can still fill out an interest form so that will be notified as soon as the Fall internship applications open up.

Please fill out the Navy Yard’s interest form and they will notify you when the next round of applications open.

Eligibility:

• A Brooklyn resident or attend a Brooklyn-based school   

• A first-time or once returning participant in the internship program   

• A current college attending student or a high school senior planning to attend college in Fall 2024    

• If under 18, working papers must be provided. Working papers can be obtained from your school  

Most common roles we will have positions available for are focused on business admin./management, computer science/IT, communications, culinary/hospitality, engineering, fashion, film, graphic design, marketing, social media management, and more.

Branding Internship at HS IAM

Internship Opportunity: Branding and Multimedia Campaign Intern at High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media (HSIAM)

Are you a creative and motivated individual looking to gain real-world experience in branding and multimedia? Join the High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media (HSIAM) located in Canarsie, Brooklyn, and be a part of our exciting new P-Tech partnership with NYC College of Technology (City Tech).

Essential Duties:

As an intern with us, you’ll have the chance to contribute to a dynamic multimedia campaign. Previous intern assignments have encompassed a range of creative projects, including:

– Ad campaigns (strategy, concept, execution)

– Art direction

– Copywriting

– Branding (use of brand guidelines in creating collateral)

– Exhibition layouts (Print banners and displays)

– Collateral Design

– Informational Design and Communications

– Digital Media Support (Website and Social media)

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

– Minimum GPA of 3.3

– Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

– Strong logo creation and vector drawing skills

– Excellent attention to detail

– Strong English proficiency and grammar skills preferred

NYC Department of Aging Engagement Content and Operations Internship: Spring 2024

This would be a multifaceted internship that will play a supportive role in Aging Connect Operations, as well as, the volunteer program.  Intern(s) would help in the implementation of our engagement plan, budgeting systems, and research. Intern(s) would help to craft and execute a social media plan designed to highlight the volunteer program. Intern(s) would assist in the planning of virtual and in-person events for the volunteer program and agency at-large. Intern(s) would assist in agency research projects and assist the Director of Operations in budgeting tasks, while learning about the various city reporting systems and protocols.

Brooklyn College Seeks a Team of Social Media/Video and Graphics Interns for Spring 24

Brooklyn College’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness is seeking a team of five COMD students to support the department’s graphic design, marketing, and web support needs for its social media sites and other communications to students. Two graphics interns – logo design, document formatting, promotional material development – and three social media marketing interns who will be shooting and editing Tik Tok videos and supporting Instagram needs. Some support of a WordPress site will be needed on an ad hoc basis. This internship will be hybrid, with some remote work and some in-person work.

Communications Intern – Graphic Design for NYC’s Office of the Comptroller in Manhattan

The New York City Comptroller, an independently elected official, is the Chief Financial Officer of the City of New York. The mission of the office is to promote the financial integrity and operational effectiveness of New York City government, in order to secure a thriving future for all New Yorkers and build a more just, equitable, and resilient city. We utilize the tools and responsibilities that the City Charter assigns us to ensure that City government is budgeting wisely, investing strategically, living up to its promises and obligations, and keeping a sharp eye on the long-term challenges to come.

The Communications Intern will assist the Creative Director with coordinating all graphic needs around communication efforts for the Comptroller’s Office. Responsibilities of the Intern include, but are not limited to:

– Creating design templates for social media and internal assets
– Organizing a visual library for web and digital design
– Assisting to expand our design style guide

NYPIRG Seeks Interns for Spring 24, Summer 24 and Fall 24

Dear COMD students,

NYPIRG is looking for year-round interns. NYPIRG has an office on the City Tech campus, but the work will be a mix of in-person and remote work – within the office, at home, and at locations around and near campus. We have had COMD students work with them in the past and it has been a positive experience.

If you are not familiar with NYPIRG, see their website or their Instagram. They are a public advocacy group committed to advocating for student issues, environmental protection, voting rights, fixing the MTA, and many other issues.

According to NYPIRG, students will learn about grassroots organizing techniques and new digital tools used to support social movements holistically. Their education in effective communication begins with learning key public speaking and community outreach skills, forming narratives and messaging through graphic design, video production, web design, or other specialties based on their interests and interactions with the constituencies NYPIRG serves.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Outreach work: Talking to students about the issues and getting them involved, including voter registration; working on public-facing writing such as letters to local newspapers and web copy
  • Organizing work: Leading one of our campaigns on issues like Public Health and Mass Transit, including attending weekly Project Leader Zoom meetings and organizing events and/or presentations
  • Design work: Creating social media graphics, posters, videos, websites, and other materials to inform students and promote events
