CityTech’s Public Affairs Office is Seeking a Design Intern for Spring 2024

Right here on  Campus, this internship spot offers an intern the opportunity to work on projects relating to the college’s Public Affairs and Partnerships Office. The hours of this unpaid internship position are flexible and apply ASAP to land this spot.

Skills 

  • Well versed in most Adobe programs including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat
  • Must have an understanding of typography, layout, and general design principles
  • Some knowledge in Microsoft Office products Power Point, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communications and organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Create graphic design solutions to communicate college and department brand 
  • Utilize Adobe software to create, design, and modify projects
  • Create digital and print posters, fliers, and brochures for college events 
  • Communicate and present design ideas for Public Affairs and Partnerships
  • Photograph at events/ workshops

Spring 2025 Internship Opportunities with Macmillan Publishers/Apply ASAP

Macmillan Publishers is currently offering paid, part-time, remote internship opportunities for Spring 2025. Those hired locally will be given the opportunity to come into the office, if interested. Internships will be available in areas such as Editorial, Marketing/Digital Marketing, Publicity, Art & Design, Sales, Managing/Production Editorial, Production, Publishing Operations, Subrights, Creative Services, and Author Events.

Interns in our program will become familiar with the basic structure of the department/team and gain a general understanding of the key roles the particular trade/shared services function plays in a publishing house. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in job-related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments — all virtually.

Interns will work no more than 25 hours per week. Internships start on February 3, 2025  and will continue through May 9, 2025. If needed, there may be some flexibility in regards to the duration of the internship.

The Macmillan spring internship program is available to candidates who have graduated high school, are over the age of 18, are eligible to work in the U.S. and aspire to pursue a career in the publishing industry. Applicants who identify with groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry [including but not limited to: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, veterans and people with disabilities] are strongly encouraged to apply.

Brooklyn Museum Spring 2025 Internships Opportunities: Deadline is 11/3/24.

Learn from, and work with, experts from all areas of the Brooklyn Museum! As an intern, you’ll be paired with a supervisor and integrated into one of our departments, participating fully in day-to-day workplace activities and projects with the guidance of full-time staff members. In addition to gaining extensive work experience, you’ll have the opportunity to attend seminars that focus on the role of museums and how we might imagine the future. The seminars will take place every Tuesday from 9:30am – 12:30 pm with sessions taking place onsite. Participation in these seminars is mandatory. The Brooklyn Museum Spring Internship is a part-time paid opportunity. Interns receive $17 per hour, and work 18 hours per week, starting January 24 and ending April 18, 2024, for a a total of 12 weeks. The application deadline is November 3, 2024 at 11:59pm EST

Eligibility requirements: 
We accept individuals with various levels of experience and education.  Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors, graduate students enrolled in a master’s degree program, and recent graduates with an associate’s or bachelor’s are eligible to apply. For those with no higher education, we require three years of work experience (including retail and service industry experience). Individuals currently enrolled in a doctoral program are not eligible.
Some of these positions will be exclusively onsite, while others will be a blend of virtual and onsite (hybrid). Please see position descriptons.  
Please note: To be considered for a position, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The start and end date of the program are non-negotiable, including seminar participation. 
References & Letters of Recommendation
We do not require letters of recommendation, however, we do ask that you provide the name, title, and email contact for two references.  References should be current or previous supervisors, professors, or other professionals who have worked with you in some capacity.

Below is a sample of Available Positions for the Spring: 

Archives — The Brooklyn Museum’s Archives documents the various departments and activities of the Museum from 1823 through present day. Working with the Archivist and Records Manager, the intern will process the photographs, negatives and slides from the Department of Education. The Department of Education was formerly established in 1930, though has roots back to 1913, and is responsible for programming, art classes, tours, internships, and interpretation. The Archivist and Records Manager will provide training in how to use an archive, basic archival theory, and in ArchivesSpace to help the intern complete the project. All are welcome to apply.

Conservation (Undergraduate)— The intern will assist conservators on preventive conservation activities that could include working with environmental data, integrated pest management activities, making storage housings and containers for artworks, applying accession numbers, condition photography and performing minor treatments under supervision. This internship will serve as an introduction to the field of art conservation. The ideal candidate has an interest in science, art and loves working with their hands.

Education (School Programs)—The School Program Intern will collaborate with the School Programs team to primarily support programming for K-12 audiences and their teachers. Responsibilities will include assisting on and facilitating lessons for one-off Guided Gallery Visits and multi-visit School Partnerships, supporting teacher professional development workshops, and helping to collect data about students’ and teachers’ experiences.

Visitor Experience and Engagement — The vision of the Visitor Experience and Engagement (VEE) Department is to provide a warm and welcoming environment that offers inclusive, inspirational, and transformative experiences for visitors of all backgrounds and abilities . . ..the candidate will also provide input for ongoing projects such as the VEE front-of-house guide, a document that assists our Admissions staff in the membership and admission desks. An interest in the museum field is welcome but not required. Essential qualities for this internship include attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent communication and writing skills, and creative problem-solving. Previous experience in customer service is a plus.

Poster and T-Shirt Contest for the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation

COMD students–here’s an opportunity to showcase your design skills and possibly win $500. Your poster will promote the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) Scholarship Program. To do this, your assignment is first to learn more about the PGSF scholarship program and the organization itself. In the process, you can also learn about and consider applying for a PGSF Scholarship yourself. Please see the scholarship application under the heading “student” on the navigation bar of the PGSF website. Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 school year open November 1, 2024. Life Science NYC Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 Internships. Early Application Deadline for Summer is 12/31/24

The LifeSci NYC Internship Program is the City of New York’s innovative, paid internship program to develop the City’s next generation of life sciences leaders. The program provides quality internships for undergraduate and graduate students, while offering curriculum and training support with refined “hard” skills in the sciences and “soft” skills of professional and personal development.

This is a paid internship program and offers spots in Science Communications and Marketing.

Key Dates (2024 – 2025)

  • Applications for internships and full-time roles are open year-round. Apply Now.
  • December 31, 2024 – early deadline for summer applications
  • Now – May 2025 – Academic year internships; dates and length determined by mutual agreement between host and intern
  • Now – Summer 2025 – Rolling selection and placement of summer internship applicants with hosts
  • May 21 – May 22, 2025 – Pre-internship “Boot Camp” intensive training for placed interns
  • May 27 – August 1, 2025 – Typical summer internship period

CUNY Cultural Corp Spring 2025 Applications are Now Open!

Dear COMD students, the CUNY Cultural Corp applications for Spring 2025 now open. These are paid internships with cultural organizations in the city. We’ve had COMD students intern at the Queens Botanical Gardens, the Whitney Museum, the NY Transit Museum, and many other organizations as graphic design interns.
