Due Nov 14th, 12 pm, Noon. 4 pts.

A final project proposal of 300 words min plus a gallery of images for inspiration otherwise known as a mood board.

The goal of the Final Project is to create a series of 10 related images on a theme.

You may choose to do either:

A series of portraits (not 10 pictures of 1 person but 10 pictures of 10 people) OR

A portrait of a neighborhood

OR another theme that you are passionate about: dogs, skateboarders, basketball players, street fashion to name a few possibilities.

Decide which assignment(s) you most enjoyed. What are you most interested in? Then consider: do you have people to work with? What is your schedule like and what is practical?

Final Project statement: Describe your project. What is your theme? What is the story you want to tell? What is the subject matter? Where will you shoot and when will you shoot? What kinds of techniques will you use?

Find a minimum of 6 images by 6 different photographers that show what you want your project to look like. Put them in a gallery in the post with your final project statement.

For this final project, I would take pictures of either my daily activities in life or the places I normally go to. It’s like a day in a life type of deal, to show what I see in my life and how I view places and people. It’s a fun way for the audience to see what someone else sees and examine how different or similar their communities are. I will show you all the places I’ve been and go to. Places like my home, neighborhood, School, my hangout sessions with my friends, and wherever my daily routines take me. It is also a good way to show a time capsule of a point in my life and it’s fun to show an audience what someone’s daily routine is. For this assignment, I think I will use all sorts of techniques like wide shots, close-ups, lighting, shadowing, and different types of camera angles. Different angles can give a different sense of immersion in how they see a picture of a setting. I don’t really have a specific location to shoot, like I said I’ll most likely take shots at my neighborhood and school location. For my Neighborhood, it can be a hard place to crack down because I live in 2 specific neighborhoods because I have one on my mom’s side or my dad’s side. It’s hard to say if I have to choose a specific location I usually go to but I think it would be fun to explore my neighborhood even more.

For this final project I am most interested in my theme to capture the fashion style of New York citizens from the youth to middle aged. The story I want to tell by this is how fashion statements in New York go a long way and affect the youth to have a bigger urge to buy designer brands opposed to millennials. The main focus is to gain more attention to how a keen interest in diverse fashion styles of New York citizens is spanning from youth to middle age. The narrative is how individual fashion choices serve as a powerful means of self-expression, reflecting the personality of the wearer. Also there is a notion that someone’s  clothes play a pivotal role in shaping perceptions and reactions from others. Unfortunately, societal norms often lead to individuals being judged based on the outward presentation of their clothing, a reality that the project seeks to emphasize. Driven by a keen interest in capturing the diverse fashion styles of New York citizens spanning from youth to middle age. The  essence of this project is to unravel the story woven by the fashion choices in the streets of New York.  I’m aiming to shed light on how these fashion statements significantly influence the younger generation, creating an undeniable lure towards acquiring designer brands as opposed to the trends embraced by millennials. The geographical focus of my project  will be Lower Manhattan and the alleyways of Brooklyn, juxtaposed against the backdrop of high-end fashion stores. Through a skillful  incorporation of photographic techniques such as the utilization of shallow depth of field, exposure manipulation, and thoughtful photo composition to portray the dynamic between the  individuals and their clothing choices.By doing this I hope to illuminate the outstanding impact of fashion choices on the youth, unraveling narratives of self-expression, societal perceptions, and the evolving lure of designer brands.
