I don’t remember what got me into technology, like any other teenager i just thought it was cool and that was really all the reason i needed at the time. The person that was my counselor Ms.Cox, it was my 8th grade year and it was around when everyone had to file out a form telling her what high school they were interested in. My paper was blank mainly because i wasn’t motivated but also because i didn’t know what i wanted to do with my life at that point. One day while in my math class she called for me to come to her office, i wasn’t usually the type to get in trouble often so i had nothing to be scared of but for some reason i couldn’t help but start stressing over the situation. Once I got in the office she sat me at the chair directly facing herΒ desk, she decided to jump straight to the point and asked me why my sheet was blank and went on a whole tangent on how my whole future may depend on this, immediately after she was done she looked at me as if she looking for an answer to a question then i quickly realized i zoned out through her whole speech, she asked my what i wanted to be and what high school i wanted to go to i replied back with a simple “idk”.Β She saw that the conversation was going nowhere so she went into her desk and took out a thick binder filled with different career paths and said “It’s not that you don’t know what you wanna do you just haven’t found something that piques your interest” . So for that whole week she kept having me come back her office and we kept scrolling through different career paths until we found one that i would be interested in. She gave me a list of some careers to do research on, on that list “software developer” was one of the careers listed and after i did some research my eyes lit up. The thought of this as my career never crossed my mind but i immediately decided to pursue it because of how much it tied back to love of gaming.
