Networking : Industrial Color Studio

Last Monday, I had an opportunity to visit the Industrial color studio. It is
located at 32 Avenue of The Americas on the 22nd floor. At first, I thought the
studio is not going to be a big company, but when I arrived there it caught me in surprised. It was actually a really big company. When I stepped into the studio, It felt just like as if I was entering the field. There was a host that brings and introduces us to the different
department of the studio. They also have another person who seems to be like an expert, who explain more in more details about what they do and how the each department functions.

The first department we visited was the video editing department. The expert first showed us a demo of the digital commercials that they did before and then he showed us how he can manipulate every frame of a video, like removing the freckles, changing the skin tone, adding shadow, adjusting the armpit, and so on. I was really shocked and fascinated by the things he can do. I didn’t know that they can do so many things to a video. He then showed us how he can even change the outfit of a model in a video with a reason why to do so. The reason to do that was because their client sent them the wrong outfit. They didn’t notice that until all the shootings were done. The client wanted them to fix that error, but the studio didn’t want to spend the money to rehire the model again. So they came up with an idea of letting another person to put on the right outfit, then using their editing skills to replace the wrong outfit. I learned that being careless can cause a big problem, and when you are facing a big problem like this, you should believe there must be a way to solve it. We then went to the shooting department. They have a lot of clothes there and a large area for shooting. We also visited the 3D rendering department. I learned that they use a software called Cinema 4D to create the 3d effects and objects. At the end, we visited the photo manipulating department and printing department. I learned the keeping the room dark can help out eyes to see the color better and correctly.

After this field trip, I have some basic understanding of how a real design studio works. It will definitely be helpful for me when I enter the field in the future.
