The first store sign they told me to work on was a small hardware shop. It is located at downtown Manhattan. I was told to redesign their sign and give it a new look. The first thing I noticed on their old sign is that It has a lot of information. It almost tells every product that they have. I though it looks messy and overwhelming, so I decided to simplify it. I took away some of the information that I think it’s not so important. Then I rearranged all the elements. I also changed the color from red to blue. But after I showed the sign to my boss and the client. The client didn’t seem to like it. He said there was too much empty space. He wanted all the information back. I tried to convince him, but it didn’t work. So I had to put all the information back on the sign. It looks overwhelming again. What I learned form this experience is that what I think looks nice may not work for the clients.
