Overview
Maintaining a sketchbook with practice drawings each week will make a big difference in how quickly you improve your skills. Create at least 6 full-page sketches, half from life observation, and half with practice copies of the illustrations and diagrams provided.
What should I draw?
Half of your sketches should be based on observation (drawing from life):
- Loved ones at home People in parks or subways
- Hands and feet
- Self-portraits in a mirror
- People in parks or subways
Half of your sketches should be based on practicing the following:
- Course diagrams and illustrations
- Tutorials
- Drawing techniques from class
Submission
- Each week create a new Sketchbook post with an image gallery to showcase six of the sketchbook drawings you’ve made that week.
- To create your Sketchbook Post, visit OpenLab Help> Writing a Post
- Title your weekly Sketchbook post with your “Screen name’s” + “Sketchbook” + “week number”. Example: “Miguel’s Sketchbook W1”
- IMPORTANT: Be sure to check the category “Sketchbook Posts” when creating your Sketchbook posts. Visit: OpenLab Help > Adding Categories
- To add an image gallery, visit OpenLab Help > Adding an image gallery
- Caption each image as follows: “W1 – SB 1”, “W1 – SB 2”, “W1 – SB 3”, etc.
Due Date(s)
- Weekly, by 4 pm the day before the next class.
