Introduction

Design + Identity

For my presentation I will be addressing how we have become dependent on “social proofs”. Social proof is when we emulate the behaviors of our peers in order TO MAKE DECISIONS ON THE SITUATION.

Background Review

This was the video that introduced me to social proofs ad how brands use this to market their productshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6aF5ma7BiM

Social proof takes advantage of our curious nature as when we partake in the act of shopping, we are dealing with a strong lack of information. We are sort of designed into a world where we heavily rely on this feedback system, but the red flag is that whatever gets represented to us can easily be fabricated.

Rationale

So, this sort of delves into the work of the representation theory and how we interpret signs. There are significant causes and effects that the use and manipulation of social proofs have on us. It is a marketing tactic that is heavily used in our keeping consumerism strong, and it has another form in the social media side.

Method and design

A quick rundown of social proof. It can be repres

How we are constantly being under the influence of this structure. How reliant we have become. Think the 5-star system, we go to the 3 and 4 stars to get the truth because the 5 and 1 ratings are seen as un reliant. It’s like Americas middle class, once it dies out there will be no bridge to cross, just two sides waging war against each other, in this instance the truth and greed.

I will conclude my presentation by talking about the importance of strengthening the way we bridge information and products. This part is still being worked on, there’s no telling if this will have a happy optimistic ending, it could potentially just be a warning.

Final point will be the closing after my conclusion, it will be a montage paired with an OutKast song that I am aiming to create a strong sense of urgency on my subject by sort of capturing the metaphorical void of shopping and relying on social proof.
