My main qualifications and strengths as a Graphic Designer is to distinguish the software. By applying my creative abilities I also learn to adapt it with the person I am today. Presently, interning at Made in NY Media Center and I am improving on my time management expertise in order to reach specific deadlines. In one day I am requested to have at least three techniques to execute a concept. In my opinion, this is an excellent way to learn how life is after college and use that knowledge for exceeding job opportunities.
I am pursuing a job as a graphic designer and saw that there are numerous places that are available. For example, IMG, a creative management agency. This is a business that contains many events and media. KORRES is another organization that I was viewing. They are looking for a freelance Graphic Designer that have great layout skills, creative services, as well as pays attention to detail. They are a brand of natural Greek skin, body, and hair products. Lastly, Consumer Media Network is another company that is hiring. This designer team in Seattle are producing industry specific high-quality content. They want someone who is quick thinking and innovative and shows a lot of passion and strength with visual features. Unfortunately, they also necessitate someone with a minimum of 2-4 years of design experience.
While I was searching for an occupation as a Graphic Designer I noticed that many areas required an online portfolio and a cover letter. But, I did repeatedly stumble into the conflict where many design companies asked for a minimum 2-4 years graphic design involvement as well as, requiring a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design. This is a dilemma for me due to the circumstance that I want to receive my Bachelors and then find a job. Alternatively, another situation are that many job requirements looked for someone who can code HTML and CSS. Considering now at this new information I know that Web design is a basic knowledge for me, and a weakness that I will have to improve.
Relevant job searches in several sites are employing for the title of Sr. Graphic Designer or Jr. Graphic Designer. Many goals of these organizations that interest me is that they want to re-brand or modify their appearance, which for me I find that entire process exhilarating. Many companies enquire exceptional time management and organization skills, which are aptitudes I acquire.
My professional goals are to continue working with a company for a long time and get to be able to work alongside a great teammate that shares my interests as well as imparts new knowledge. I would also like to work in a group-oriented community to grow professionally and receive critical feedback on my work. For now, I see myself working in an office space. I like the idea of having my own space to work and I also see myself working alongside other designers. I also love to travel, so if my job requires me to move I would definitely seize that opportunity.
I feel like my education at City Tech has somewhat prepared me to meet my employers’ needs. For example, in my Communication Design class we are always having a client and brainstorming concepts and ways to accomplish the ideas. We also taught how to work with teams as well as progress on our communicating skills. This is necessary for my future because in some jobs such as, a Junior Graphic Designer for a Corporate Communications team, they want an individual who is an excellent problem solver as well as someone who has an even greater ability to converse. They want and need people with a verbal skill set to have the confidence to report to a Creative Director. As well as, to speak in a larger group and be able to talk about what is trying to convey.
