For this sketchbook assignment, the first page of my sketchbook, I created two rows where I practiced creating my own line work and my own shapes for my composition. The first row I was experimenting, but my second row I leaned more towards having my lines symmetrical. After, I drew the sun in the sky, but used my abstract linework to make the sun more interesting and have texture. The background contains worms rising from the ground as though it is morning when the sun first rises. My second composition is more imaginary as I drew the stems rising from the ground with rocks surrounding them on the floor. I also made the clouds in the sky more wavy and dark. I tried to not make the clouds give the illusion of night time by having the background white.

For this sketchbook assignment, I filled up two pages with value studies. All studies start from a lighter shade on the left and gradually get darker the more to the right. My value study consists of vertical lines, cross hatching, circles, zig zag lines, waves, streaks of lines, swirls, stippling, and more. For my abstract design, I centered my abstract shapes around a rose. I used the stippling technique to add value and texture to the rose. I created vines spread out from the rose, but the vines contain abstract designs attached to them. For the background, I used stippling as well.
