I’ve chosen to do an article by High Snobiety about one of my favorite upcoming designers, Dingyun Zhang. Zhang is a 25-year old Chinese Central Saint Martins graduate and designer for Kanye West’s YEEZY brand. This article speaks on how this designer is already making noise even without selling a single product as yet. He has amassed over 70 thousand followers, including Rihanna, Mowalola, A$AP Nast.. some of which have worn his sample pieces. I’m interested in this article because Zhang’s designs match perfectly with the style of my artwork. I’ve always been drawn to his pieces and always wanted to create something out of them.

The artist of this illustration is Logan Sylve, @LilBlackGoat on Instagram. I love his work, it gives off a Jean Michel Basquiat feeling and he is one of my favorite artists. In this piece, Sylve uses a variety of blues. From light to dark, this piece uses a monotone palette and I believe that that enhances the piece. The color blue can have multiple meanings in art and in this work, I believe that the blue represents sadness. More so, it’s an indication of the character’s feelings. I feel as if the character is overwhelmed and too in their head, they need an escape. If this piece was done with full color, it wouldn’t truly express the character’s emotions.
