Create a Line Ink Drawing
- Decide on your strongest concept sketch from the two you created. This will be your final composition for the Celestial Seasonings Packaging.
- If you need additional help please contact me via email.
- Do any additional tweaks to your concept sketch based on feedback and suggestions you received in class. Finalize the pencil drawing.
- Use a printer/ copier to enlarge drawings. Print out the drawing at 150, 175, or 200 percent. I suggest testing out what scale works for you. Don’t go beyond 200 percent.
- Use a lightbox, graphite transfer paper, or retrace your drawing onto the Bristol paper by using a window. (I found a tutorial that shows you how to make a DIY lightbox with two cheap picture frames. Make sure to use a plexiglass frame.)
- Do not shade your drawing. Focus on clean line drawing.
- Test out your different materials. Try using a micron pen, brush pen, dip pen, or brush with ink. Combine a few or just use on medium. See what works for you.
- Create your final line drawing. You may need to do it once or twice depending on how comfortable the line drawing feels.
DUE NEXT WEEK:
- Post your Ink line drawing by itself and back again in the template (you’ll have to scale it back down to fit) with a brief description of the type of medium you used to the Openlab, Student Posts> Works in Progress. Feel free to make any comments about what you experience with the materials.
