This black and white artwork created by French artist Gustave Dore shows plenty of compositions. Gustave shows movement in the illustration. By the way the water flows in the river and how the sky is opening up. The use of black and whites is amazing. It definitely shows contrast and shadows around the illustration. It’s appealing to the eye as well because it’s drawn to the top part of the illustration which is the sky. From there, the eye moves down to where the dragon and the river appear. I will say his composition was effective and makes the illustration come to life.
