During this pandemic I’ve been trying to learn how to bake. I never really been hands on in the kitchen.Ā Iā€™ve been baking with my sister and grandmother. My grandmother has been our baking mentor since quarantine. Sheā€™s not much of a baker herself but sheā€™s been trying to help us anyway. So farĀ me and my sister have made apple pie,Ā cookies, and brownies. Itā€™s beenĀ pretty excitingĀ because Iā€™m not used to being in the kitchen. Also, eating something youā€™ve put work into has a satisfactory feeling.Ā Ā

Iā€™m looking forwardĀ toĀ bakingĀ more desserts. Hopefully, my skills will increase as time flies byĀ and Iā€™ll be able to bake more advance desserts.Ā Ā

    Hi Zachary,
I can totally relate to you. I was such a klutz when it comes to being in the kitchen that I tend to stop myself from entering. While in the quarantine, it made me do things I wouldn’t have thought I could do, making me get out of my comfort zone. I started baking with my mom and sister, making brownies, cookies, puddings, and egg tarts. I agree with your comment that “eating something you’ve put work into has a satisfactory feeling.” Towards the end of our baking session, my mom would say something along the lines, “We can open our own store once we are out.”

    Hi Zachary,
Great post about baking. I like to make a few of my favorite Japanese dishes, but I have never tried to bake. The closest I come is by watching the Great British Baking Show. It is fun to watch.
    Best,
    Sean

    Hi Zachary,
I can also relate to you and Jennifer in a similar way. After my mom discovers the app Xiaohongshu she has made many different kinds of steamed, baked, fry dishes. I also helped around with making the dishes by preparing the material such as cutting, cleaning the foods, and tools that were needed to make the dish. Recently we were making pork dumplings, where I would clean and chop the pork into minced pork and my mom would add the flavor to it and we would let it sit in the fridge for a night, then the next day we would make our own dumpling skin and make the dumplings with the help of the whole family. I totally agree with your idea that ā€œeating something youā€™ve put work into has a satisfactory feeling.ā€, it’s the best experience to enjoy the food after the hard work and time you put into it!

    Hi Zachary,
It is a good thing to be in the kitchen, and try new things. I have always been in the kitchen since I was eight years old. My mom forced me to learn how to cook stating, ā€œyou do not have to depend on your wife in the future.ā€ Which has proven to be a true concept, or idea since I can make my own food without having to depend on her all the time. At least when I actually feel like cooking. I have recently also gotten into baking. Something my mom herself never was into until about four years ago. I never liked it, because it takes a lot of time to get the finished product. Now that I started, I make sure to take all the time in the world to get it just right. Hope you keep up with your baking, and do it with your family.

    Hi Zachary,
I like how youā€™re learning how to bake with your family. Iā€™ve also baked with my family. I donā€™t know how yours turned out but since you were able to enjoy eating them with a satisfactory feeling, Iā€™m sure yours came out well. When I bake with my family it never goes well, we either burn what we baked or add too much of one ingredient. Yesterday my sister tried to surprise us with brownies but she ended putting a lot of salt and we ended up throwing it away. Today we baked cookies and this was the first time that we didnā€™t mess up. Hopefully, you and your family donā€™t mess up because itā€™s never a good feeling to throw out something that you worked hard on and spent money on.
