Responsibilities • Participates in routine inspection operations supervising the installation and upgrading of fill ports to ensure compliance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). • Inspects school premises and oversees the installation or removal of temporary fuel tanks, repairs related to fuel oil tanks and associated piping, and ensures that all permits and registrations are compliant with federal, state and local laws. • Provides guidance to the Division of School Facilities operations and maintenance staff on NYSDEC and other regulatory agencies requirement for compliance.
Qualification Requirements: Minimum: A baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or closely related engineering field from an accredited college; or • One year of full-time paid experience in mechanical engineering work and either a valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License or a valid New York State Certificate as an Intern Engineer.
Candidates who have (1) a baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering field issued upon completion of a course of study approved by the Engineers’ Council for Professional Development; or (2) possess either a valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License or a valid New York State Certificate as an Intern Engineer and one year of full-time paid experience in mechanical engineering work will not be required to take the written test.
Candidates with a baccalaureate degree from a school that is not approved by the Engineers’ Council for Professional Development, or with a degree in mechanical engineering technology must take the written test.
