Zaire Lancaster, Le Guin Critique

After reading “The Wife’s Story” by Ursula K. Le Guin’s I was filled with awe and shock. The twist ending was great and really surprised me. I have no questions or suggestions for the author as I feel everything was done perfectly.

I really enjoyed the “wife’s” point-of-view, the subtle hints throughout the story that could let the reader to realize she was non-human unfortunately escaped me on my first read but was great nonetheless. Also, I enjoyed the were-human twist that finally helped me realize that the “wife” was a wolf figthing her half-human husband on my second read. All in all, it was a great story topped off with an amazing climax ending.

I completely agree. While I caught the hints the first time, Le Guin perfectly treads the incredibly fine line between giving hints, but not giving too much, entering the uncanny valley without any roadsigns that indicate that you’re within it.
