Recently my friends and I have been going to a cafe every Wednesday to do homework together and catch up on each other’s lives. While at the cafe I noticed most of the people were teenagers with the exception of a few older people. My friends and I were the only people with our laptops and everyone else seemed to be there just to hangout. The cafe we go to is a crepe place so many people will have crepes in front of them with coffee. The cafe always has low music playing and it’s typically pop music. There are string lights hung up and the environment is very calm and warm. The young people were all laughing and I overheard them talking about their own personal lives which involved relationships, school and funny stories they were sharing with each other. When they were talking about school they seemed stressed because they kept saying they were getting a lot of homework and several tests all at once that was hard to keep up with. Aside from seeming stressed because of school, they seemed to be enjoying themselves and they were all dressed nicely as if they had gone somewhere before coming to the cafe or were going somewhere after the cafe. There were also some older people there but I couldn’t understand what they were saying because they were speaking in Korean. Mainly all the customers were women and all the workers were women as well. Sometimes the music got a little louder which made it hard to concentrate and that’s when I would start to look around the cafe. The cafe recently put decorations on some tables where people aren’t allowed to sit and they are little communities that were built and there were little houses with fences and grass.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
