Clifton McDowell Jr, Dialogues (Revised)

Groomsman Text

(I didn't just want to make a decision because I wanted my guys to be okay with what was chosen so I felt it was best to let them know the options and see what they would prefer)

CJ: Hey fellas so I need your opinion. I have two suits that look somewhat identical, one is from Men's Warehouse and you can rent it for $189 just for the wedding day, or you can get a similar suit from a store where I bought mine from. You can get fitted and everything the same but its $199 and you can buy it.
Mark: Oh I definitely would rather buy it
Brandon: Yea I would too
Mike: Yea there really isn't a big price difference, you should know we would rather buy hahaha
CJ: Yea I figured much. I just know since Jon recently moved out of NY it would be difficult for him because you have to go to this store. It's not like men's warehouse where you can just go anywhere and be fitted
Jon: Yea that's fine, I can easily come back to NY to for the suit bro. It's your wedding
Mark: See no problem, everything is solved
CJ: Lol iight fellas i'll send the info

(After seeing the suit that they could purchase we came to a decision that the quality of the rented suit was better and we decided to have them rent instead of buy, which also worked out for one of the guys who is out of state)

Babeeeeeee

(So throughout the wedding planning process Alisha has tended to overthink and want to change certain items in which we had already decided upon. I've grown to have patience and do what I can to make our day special, and if that means changing things around then so be it....well only if its possible)

Alisha: Babeeeeeeeeeeeee
CJ: lol yea?
Alisha: I need your help
CJ: okay with what?
Alisha: something..
CJ: bruh, babe why you being so dramatic lmbooooo
Alisha: ahaha idk
Alisha: its about the wedding ceremony
CJ: uh oh....you want to change something?
Alisha: you know me too well. Idk i just feel the start time can be pushed back
CJ: For just the ceremony right?
Alisha: Yea...I mean can we push the reception to 3pm?
CJ: I wouldnt attempt that babe, we already have all the contracts signed and paid for with the vendors. It's easier to just adjust the ceremony.
CJ: You want to try and lessen the gap between the two right?
Alisha: exactly!! its been bothering me
Alisha: Could we change the ceremony to start at noon?
CJ: hmmmm
CJ: I think that's too close. I would say 11:30am would be better. The cocktail is at 230 and we want to give everyone time afterwards for travel
Alisha: okayyyyyyy
CJ: so you're fine with that?
Alisha: yea, now me and my girls can sleep a little lol
CJ: lol okay ill contact the limo and let them know
Alisha: thanks babeeeeeee

Honeymoon talk

(The pandemic changed alot when it comes to weddings. Our wedding is Nov 1st, 2021 and we're trying to figure out the best place to go with everything going on in the world)

CJ: Okay so we're set on Aruba
Alisha: Yea I would love bali but I don't want to go and alot of things are still closed down
CJ: Yea from what I've read its still pretty shutdown and they are reopening slowly in june/july but its not guaranteed
Alisha: I just don't want to be let down. I'm not trying to wait til october to book a november honeymoon
CJ: Yea I totally get it, I just wish we could do bali since its so cheap, but we can go next year for like our 1 year wedding anni
Alisha: Yeaa that sounds good too
CJ: Okay so now we gotta find a hotel
Alisha: Should we make a list then see what offers the most
CJ: Yea i'll make a google doc so we can add everything into it
Alisha: okay

Want food?

Dad: I'm going to chic-fil-a do you want anything?
CJ: really dad!?! is that even a question lol ofc I do
Dad: send it
CJ: Spicy Deluxe w/ pepper jack...the meal..large fries...large sweet ice tea with no ice...and you can get an extra spicy deluxe but just the sandwich

Regarding the 1st dialogue, I was actually in a similar position for my mother’s wedding a few years back; that one was nice to read. The 4th dialogue was even better as that’s my same order! Not the biggest fan of the ice tea, but no one I know ever gets the spicy deluxe. Sad times man, it’s too good.

The formatting here is incredibly clean, which is good. Each dialogue chunk is split off cleanly and creates a sort of pacing for the reader. However, I wish there was more context to read.

I enjoyed the context given, I felt as though I got a pretty good handle on what was happening and why when I initially read them but the context only helps to reassure me and I’m grateful I was on the mark.

I enjoyed your dialogues and it shows details like if it was in an actual conversation. The work was clean and easy for the audience to read.
