Le Guin’s story was very thrilling and full of suspense. While reading, since the beginning of the story, Le Guin started off well to make the reader understand the love she has for her husband. The way he was and acted until things started to go downhill. However, the wife’s character wasn’t so sure about the husband but she began to notice strange behavior from him. This is where Le Guin sets off her suspense. The details and perspective from the wife set the story in full motion of suspense. Although later on, it is described that the husband is an actual monster, hence his behavior and changing personality. Le Guin makes the husband have two forms of the character, the sweet old one to the serious-strange one that becomes a monster. The wife, however, she’s full of love due to the ending describing her love for him after he fades away.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 1 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance via email. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
