I found it easier to express my thoughts through a letter than a traditional academic essay. There is a certain freedom you are allowed to have when writing a letter than when writing a traditional academic essay. You do not need to follow a certain formula most traditional academic essay have when they are written. There is also a conversational quality to writing a letter and it allows me to express my ideas a bit better. The pieces by Young, Douglass, Wollstonecraft, and A.O.C helped give an idea as to how speeches and letters can be done. Being able to see people giving their messages through those two mediums helped me determine which medium could help get my message through. As for what I have learned about myself as a writer, I learned about how I tend to revise my drafts even though they are suppose to just be first drafts, where I can make mistakes and see what may work and what may not.
