Wollstonecraft’s letter is written for a man in power hoping to bring change to the woman issues. She speaks not for herself but for many woman that are in similar shoes as her. She fights for woman to have the chance and ability to have free will. She wants woman to receive the same education and be taken serious like her male counterparts. In doing so she uses their logic against them. For example adhering to the ideology that woman are less than and not as intelligent, how can then that same woman be of any use or be wise enough to make at home decisions.
Young’s speech was easier for me to digest because of it’s shortness and bluntful nature. The use of problematic language also made sure to grab the listener’s or readers attention if they were starting to get distracted. The idea of oppressing a group of people by actions not meant to in the first place made me realize I may be doing the same thing. This speech made me be more self aware of my own actions and try to change habits of mine.
