Nikri Syku, My Discourse Comunities

Musical group: Made up of direct friends or connections made through each other that all share a desire to play an instrument and play together. We help each other with our playing if someone is struggling to get a song right, and even introduce each other to instruments we would not have been interested in otherwise once we get to hear them play and become aware of how it sounds and what level of effeciency it will require to play effectively.

Family: Made up of a very close knit family of immediate family as well as extended relatives, all of us sharing a similar upbringing and language that makes us feel a strong connection with each other. We get together to do different activities like playing soccer and hosting parties, and are there to help each other in times of need.

Study Group: Made up of students in majors that require similar classes such as high level math and varying computer subjects. We help each other if one of us doesn’t understand a certain facet of the class or needs help with classwork. We come together with a shared goal of trying to understand advanced concepts and help each other get through difficult situations.

Musical group: One problem is some embers might be biased against some genre of music and disregard it before giving it a chance. another problem is scheduling where it could be hard to get together due to having different times we are busy in jobs or school.

Family: One problem is geographical separation, with most living in our country, others in places like Italy, Greece, Germany, or Britain, and a small amount living in America, so there is an amount of unfamiliarity among each other if we have never met. Another problem is with immediate family they don’t speak English so they will always need me around in situations to translate.

Study Group: One problem is that some members will not be knowledgeable about certain subjects if they aren’t taking those classes. Another problem is that messages might not be answered until after you don’t need it anymore.
