To future students

Being in school during these difficult times is hard, but this class teaches you all that you need to know and more. I wouldn’t be worried about finals or being bored in this class because you always take away something after every class. Our discussions are about real life problems and creative literal sources, that help you be engaged. You also can participate because everyone will always have an opinion on minorities, religion, history or any topic. In this class you understand how writing and reading effects others today, and in the future. Professor papp is the best, my love for English has grown even more. She is very understanding and kind, she is more than a teacher of English, she is a true mentor for life.  Enjoy this class, take in every lesson and work smart, not hard. It’s fun, and hope you enjoy it too, because Corona has been ruining a lot.

Advice for future students

Hey there. I know you don’t know me but I definitely know how your feeling. I have been in the same exact position you are in right now. Yes, it’s true! I felt the anxiety, the adrenaline, and the feeling of just thinking everything is going to go wrong but it’s not. Everything is going to be ok. Your going to be ok because you got this. Your professor and along with your other professors are here to help. Ask a question or two. Someone might be thinking the same thing your thinking. Form a group chat with people that have the same classes as you and remember to not take everything head on. College is a topic you pick and have classes on based on the required degree you need for that topic. Don’t just stick to college.. Take on a trade, a skill, or a hobby because that might just be part off your future as well. Most importantly take it one step and one day at a time and just know you will succeed.

Sh*tty Final Reflection

To describe this first term as weird or unimaginable is an understatement. As an incoming freshman starting my first semester of college I was anxious and excited at the same time. Unfortunately due to the natural occurrences, politics, and world wide issues we are facing my semester often felt challenging. Even though I had to go through these obstacles and others, I also learned about myself as a reader and a writer. I have learned that doing shitty drafts is a way of letting my mind explore. It gives me the opportunity to let out all the ideas that are roaming in my mind. It also made me aware of how mistakes are a part of how you improve as a writer. I thought that writing was about grammar, punctuation, and just long word or page requirements. I had this idea of my English class in mind because of what people have told me before I entered college. Even people with past experiences would say the same thing as well.
