The passage below agrees with me and makes me want to know more.

“The purpose of education, finally, is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself, to make his own decisions, to say to himself this is black or this is white, to decide for himself whether there is a God in heaven or not. To ask questions of the universe, and then learn to live with those questions, is the way he achieves his own identity. But no society is really anxious to have that kind of person around. What societies really, ideally, want is a citizenry which will simply obey the rules of society. If a society succeeds in this, that society is about to perish. The obligation of anyone who thinks of himself as responsible is to examine society and try to change it and to fight it – at no matter what risk. This is the only hope society has. This is the only way societies change.”

In short, this passage talks about that we have a society where peoples are going by specific rules and if society succeeds in executing the plan over everyone, then it will face doom. On the other hand, we have people who would like to go out of the system and explore and decide things independently. There is a risk for those who want to explore on their own and bring changes in society. Some people will not want to know whether they are under oppression or not. They just would like to live simply. But I would say everything a person does affects this society. If a person walks up to society and changes it positively, it will help many others who were under oppression but couldn’t do anything about it. It’s totally up to a person himself whether he wants to help others and help him with knowledge getting out of their comfort zone or they want just to live their life only with a naive mind.Â
