  1. Project Proposal 
    • Share feedback on each intern’s proposal
      • Asana – make a task for yourself where you link/upload the document, share feedback.
    • Meet with partner to discuss each other’s proposals
    • Begin to combine into one proposal for your Major Project to share next week.
  2. Continue working on your OpenLab ePortfolio
    • Follow the COMD Portfolio Template menu structure (restructure your existing menu or start from scratch and document the experience of creating a new portfolio)
    • Document your experiences to share with the group and/or write up for The Buzz – DYK or Tips.
  3. “Every Week” tasks
    • Complete weekly check-in by Friday
    • Document your hours in the spreadsheet

    • “Did You Know?” Post on The Buzz
      Based on 10 Things We Love About The OpenLab, review Did You Know posts
      • What do we think of these?
      • How do we brand this?
        • DYK? or DYK: or DYK…
        • Have a category DYK or Did You Know
        • Information and visual hierarchy: Begin with or include in each post with H2 Did you know… should they be capitalized or bolded?
        • develop a format/structure for these posts to make them feel branded eg box with Did You Know text, links at the bottom to Help, Want to Learn More?, etc
        • Use featured image
        • Best practices for posting: image credits, alt text, wave contrast checker, spell-check, preview before posting
        • Where does this belong in the menu
    • Building out your ePortfolio (as model for students) – Janieca and Corey

  2. Major Project Work: Review Project Proposals
    • Work in break-out rooms
      • keep in mind: goals, timelines, formats, communication/documentation
    • ePortfolio Community Outreach Campaigns – Janieca/Corey
      • Student Engagement via The Buzz, Campus Screens, Swag (printed handouts/stickers)
      • Student Support eg Tutorials, Screencasts, Workshops
      • Consult with Director of Professional Development Center,
      • Work with peer mentors for First Year Programs, or for the program itself
      • OpenLab would benefit from increasing Buzz viewership/membership, getting Did You Know series started on The Buzz and Screens, outreach to student support departments at the college
    • ePortfolio WP Theme improvements – Saria/Lyonel
      • Identify themes that we have that you like
      • Identify themes that would be good additions
      • Use OpenLab Dev for testing and evaluation
      • Fix accessibility errors in child theme
      • Consult with our developers Bree and Boone
      • OpenLab would benefit from having themes that are impressive and easy to implement, contemporary themes that are useful to designers but also easy enough for general members, beginner-friendly themes, and communicating to OpenLab members about new themes (eg documentation, tutorials, DYK)
    • ePortfolios Templates – Shabaj/Darren
      • Evaluate existing ePortfolio templates
      • Evaluate the Template interface
      • Research different majors/departments’ needs
      • Build new templates on Dev in consultation with Bree
      • OpenLab would benefit from evaluation of existing ePortfolio templates, identifying groups that would benefit from new templates that meet the needs of students in the way the COMD template does for its students–eg departments or groups of departments
    • Regroup and share out from the three break-out rooms
  3. Logistics/Housekeeping
    • Meeting days/times
      • Tuesdays at 3:30 via Zoom
      • Mid-week check-ins in Asana: on Fridays post a comment on the shared Check-in task with updates on project progress or questions.

      • Janieca: header is wrapping. Add image attribution & alt text. Nice & short! Tighten up title?
      • Shabaj: add “Open Projects”. Add image(s). Think about the length. Good use of structure.
      • Branding for title – discussion. “DYK:” or “DYK?” or “DYK…”
      • Janieca: “Featured Image” — you can control the size by changing it in the Media Library
      • Use Details block to provide attribution for header image
      • Should each DYK include an action you can take, at the end?

            • Question about layout & format (in Categories) – uses featured image, built into Theme
            • Discussion around use of logo vs use of header image – maybe add logo as header image, see how it looks

            • Existing template: COMD — everything in the center, highlight an image.
            • Will work both on brainstorming possible departments, but also evaluating existing templates
            • Evaluate existing templates, look at interface. Create new templates for different departments, for newcomers.
          • Saria & Lyonel:
            • Goal: have more themes for OL, more accessible for other majors. tutorial for themes – how to customize, how to add you posts, etc. Find errors for current themes, or find replacements
          • Janieca & Corey:
            • Make the Buzz a student resource – a place where students can share their stories.
            • Did you know – who’s important in the school, who they should know
            • Did you know how – tutorial posts
            • Get more people to utilize the buzz
  • Practicalities: Google, Dropbox, Asana, time-tracking spreadsheet
    • Asana checkin seemed like it worked well
