MEETING NOTES

  • Questions/Challenges
    • Eclipse check-in!
    • Pratt group can’t meet at this time, but Cassandra (?) will contact each intern to schedule Zoom meetings for user testing
  • Saria/Lyonel
    • finished theme testing
    • Aeonium: good for designers, works well with full site editor
    • Kadence: good if we pre-load it with content, doesn’t work with full site editing
    • Sydeny: also doesn’t work with full site editing
    • Billie: hasn’t been updated since 2022, so do we want to add it?
    • Astra: Jenna has been able to make it work on Dev.
    • Next steps: find or create sites on Dev, starting with the themes you feel strongly about. Share the links in the spreadsheet.
    • Bree is going to do further testing, and will contact you about WordPress app to test on your phone (might be in Asana). This is to improve mobile. Our developer thought we might be able to fork the app to help with mobile.
    • Saria: working on video tutorial for the new themes, will need to get rid of blurriness, add sound, maybe some text pop-outs using OpenLab branded colors
  • Janieca/Corey
    • Prof. Garristigui: uses Adobe Express. Let’s ask him for a sample Express file that we can use as a guide.
    • Spring Break PSA saved in The Buzz. Added post about categories and tags, now working on adding images
    • DYK guidelines in Dropbox
    • Make a reusable block for Call to Action, then anyone can use it. Also a reusable block for image credits that is subtle but still gives credit–so make sure it has a Creative Commons license or is in the public domain rather than being under copyright. Use the attribution builder for the format of the credit.
    • consider using the Table of Contents (Easy Table of Contents or Easy TOC) that can guide readers to the specific heading they’re interested in
    • Let’s confer about the schedule for Buzz posts
    • Share slides for screens for COMD and for general screens. Screen specs are in Asana.
    • Collaborator page–
  • Shabaj/Darren
    • Business department template: menu, sidebars moving to footer to make it have a cleaner look–but do they even need those widgets in the footer?
    • connect with the business department (Jenna and Jody can help facilitate)
    • many top-level menu items. Maybe group Resume, Cover Letter, and References?
    • About, Academics, Resume, Internship? About Me, Resume, Work Samples; or a more contemporary one that is all one page with jump links
    • Consider the order of menu items. Also think about pages vs category archives
    • think about how this template fits in with the other portfolio templates; how can this one be different?
  • Ashley
    • H5P in the OER working group meeting
    • is there a way to use this with The Buzz, maybe to gamify or have trivia or quizzes
    • think about how to move around the security
    • Will reach out to each intern to think about presentations
