RAB Proposal Paragraph- Matthew Gonzalez

My research question is how over exhaustion can cause depression In College Students. This topic interests me primarily because I am a college student as well and this can affect me or anyone else in the class, or college student. The other reason for choosing this is because I have been reading and leaning about the psychology of humans a lot from various books and newer online scholars. But personally I find that anyone can be easily susceptible to depression, especially college students what have to juggle multiple things just to stay on top of things. Whether that be school, a job, a social life, their health. I know a little about burnout and how it can affect your life.  I am aware that College students who are depressed do significantly worse in school, have a harder time completing any of the tasks above. And I realize that the people who struggle with depression in college are still figuring out who they are as a person. And I know that many of the the people who are depressed in college are reluctant to get help. I want to know more about the the steps that lead to burnout and over exhaustion that turns into depression. I also want to know more about the kids who recovered from this depression and how it has affected their education. How they did things differently after, and what they had to let go to become more manageable.  But also ways that they found effective to break this cycle. But also what other people is the persons life can do to help them from this problem.

  1. Matthew,

We talked about this today in office hours at the computer lab. You can go back to your original question; it is fine. I am not sure why I said to narrow it down. Sorry about that.

If I remember right your original question was something like: What are the causes of depression in college students? Fine!

Together we found a few possible articles for you, right?

IDEA: In past semester my students did this RQ:

How has covid affected the mental health of college students?

I have a sidebar menu next to Unit Two Assignment with LOADS of sources on covid topic and mental health of young people. YOu might find a good article there for your RQ even though you are not dealing with the covid aspect. After all covid has been a negative factor on college students’ mental health.
