RAB Proposal Paragraph- Nick Dufont

My research question is: What is the problem with having a minimum wage rather than a Living wage? This topic interests me because I have heard a lot from other people including old teachers and family members that it is very hard to afford everything you need without having a high paying job. My friend who has been trying to move out from his moms house, can’t afford to do so because he isn’t able to make enough money on an entry level job. One of my old High school teachers had the same problem despite being a teacher for years she still isn’t able to move out from her family’s house because everything in NYC is just too expensive.(good solid explanation, should be personal – 3 more sentences)  I already know that the minimum wage in NY is 15 dollars an hour and a living wage is closer to 26 dollars an hour.  (3 more sentences). Some points that I plan to explore and find out more about are, why we can’t have a minimum wage that is a living wage? What makes living in a city like New York cost so much money? How can we prevent the living wage from being so much higher than the minimum wage?
