How a search engine Works

In this article the author explains how IR systems work, and what they consist of. According to Liddy, Information retrieval systems compare queries against a self-created index. This index is then made into an inverted file. There are four modules that a search engine is made of: A ranking capability, Querry processor , Search matching function, and document processor.
