For as long as I’ve been in school and writing papers, I have been taught that plagiarism is never a solution to brain farts. Yes, looking at other people’s work to get an idea of what you want to write or to assist in brainstorming is totally acceptable, however, copying another individuals writing word for word in any format of text should not go unpunished. When someone publishes a piece of text, the reader see’s it for what it is: a piece of text; what the reader does not see is the constant headaches, the garbage full of crumbled up thoughts, and the hard work and dedication it took for the writer to develop that piece of text. It is completely selfish of an individual to merely outright copy someone’s hard work without giving credit where it’s due.
