Summarize the Main Idea of the Source:

This source explains how the recent arrival of a Venezuelan migrant family to New York is being assisted by Astrild Siolkowski, a case worker at a homeless shelter. It provides me with a wealth of knowledge when discussing current migrant experiences in New York. This is so important because the key thing about the crisis is that there are so many migrants coming in that there is no space to put them in a homeless shelter. It provides me with a wealth of knowledge when discussing current migrant experiences in New York. This is so important because the key thing about the crisis is that there are so many migrants coming in that there is no space to put them. The volume of immigrants arriving in New York is discussed. which is something we’ll talk about on our podcast as the crisis affects migrant families. The source also mentions Mayor Eric Adam’s proclamation of a state of emergency. I’ve learned so much about immigrants from this article, including whether they can work and how schools are handling migrant students. This is related to our project because we physically want to talk about the impact on shelters and about migrant families. This will help us with the discussion of shelters, which is one of the podcast’s decisions.

Summarize the Main Idea of the Source:

In comparison, my second source, a government source about the Recorded Shelter Census in New York, According to the source, there are more than 61,000 people staying in shelters in New York City. which encompasses thousands of homeless New Yorkers and thousands of asylum seekers from other regions of the country. The source also mentions the arrival of hundreds of buses in New York City beginning in early September. This source is more for a different audience or provides different information from the government’s perspective than a more critical newspaper source. This source will provide background information for our discussion on the areas where migrants are located after coming here.

Summarize the Main Idea of Source:

The article sourced above published by New York Times speaks of NYC rule to offer people the right to shelter no matter race or background. It’s because of this rule that the shelter system is becoming overwhelmed with many Venezuelans asylum seekers. NYC in fact the whole U.S is in a crisis of inflation and the economy is not wealthy enough to provide for its own people much less asylums, the citizens of this country are becoming angry with the government’s decision to consider the health and wellness of asylum seekers over their own citizens. Upon arrival the asylum seekers were relieved, you could sense how happy they are to be in a country without all the violence & suffering like their country. They had to leave their place of home due to the crisis to arrive in another place people expect them to call home but is not at peace and is also in a crisis. Many of them want to go back home but they know they must obtain shelter, food or money in order to go back home to better living conditions. After reading the article I’ve recognized that citizens feel our economy is falling due to the high populations of travelers (asylum seekers) coming into our state. There are not enough jobs, food or housing to supplement these individuals and because of that the economy is going down due to spending and not regenerating its resources quick enough. The natural resources in our state will reach depletion if there is no plan to increase asylum seekers’ ability to survive in our economy. The U.S does not have enough resources to provide for these individuals unless there is support from the federal government in funding and supplemental tools to house these individuals. With the rate our economy is at now and being in an inflation crisis already if we are not prepared for their arrival we will suffer economically.

Summarize the Main Idea of Source:

After reading the article sourced above I’ve recognized that our country is considered to be a savior of all countries and also to many people beyond these lands. When asylum seekers first arrived in the U.S.A they felt a sense of relief,  peace of mind, smiles & laughter. Two weeks after a federal judge allowed the Biden administration to end the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols, U.S. judges are beginning to allow migrants to stay in the country as their asylum claims are pending. The country they once called home has become a dangerous land of death and struggle, many of the asylum seekers can’t read or write due to these struggles. Many of these asylum seekers are very eager to learn English and learn how to communicate using the North American culture. In this article sourced above, men from Mexico talk about being threatened and beaten out of their money to feed their kids. These men and women have be runned out of their own home town due to the lack of their government being able to defend its people & also many asylum seekers are not able to defend themselves against thieves with weapons. That fear that was once in their minds walking home or at home resting is now gone because they feel safe to have their own without the worries of someone killing them for it. Asylum seekers arrive in this country most often with little to no knowledge so it will be up to the government and their individual ambition that will dictate their ability to survive in this system. From my insight of this article many of them want to work and understand the way of this country.

So this comes directly from the NY governor ‘s website where they have announced the launch of the NYS Institute for Immgration Research and Policy which is there “to help immigrants transition to community life, further education, and the workforce.”  It appears that this new institute is there to help immigrants, even those that are undocumented to gain a better access to aid to help these families secure a better living situation.  This also includes a couple of statements from assembly members, institutes chancellors and Governor Kathy Hocul on their ideas about the creation of the institute.  It even lists those who were appointed to the advisory board. Both articles will provide knowledge and discussion points on what the migrants are currently searching for and the help they possibly can get from the state moving forward.

Summarize the Main Idea of Source:

This NYT Article mainly talks about some of the immigrants’ stories of them trying to come to the United States, some of their struggles and their sacrifices. They do mention that immigrants have been looking for jobs. However, most jobs do require a work permit but are not able to request one until after 150 days after their asylum application.  A good note to acknowledge is that many of the immigrants/migrants are coming to the United States to look for a better opportunity. Even those that were migrated to New York are appreciative of the aid that they have received but as Karla and Alberto said, they do not want to depend on others, they want to work and not to be bothering the people there.

According to this article I will be discussing the immigrant crisis  and how mayer reacts to it.. On september 22-2022 mayor of New York announce on press that he is going to help immigrants (asylum) seekers coming to New York from Texas and other bordered states.everyday there were hundreds of people showing up in NYC.After reading this article I was surprised to know why would state of taxes send these people to New York. They were forced in a way. They had other family members and friends other states that they wanted to go to. They got on the bus but they didn’t know where they were going until they got here. Eric Adam states that “it’s clear that we are again dealing with a humanitarian crisis created by human hands.”  All of the other organizations are working together to asset  them. But as a mayor of NY how would you help them even people of NYC dont have better living, jobs. How would they provide them housing and food?

In this article Mayer Adam talks about the unexpected influx of migrants and how NYC is struggling to respond to thousands of immigrants showing up everyday. City has built many campsites around the city  in the Bronx and Queens .Since this was an incident in Queens shulters a mother committed suicide this raises concerns that if the city is doing enough to address their needs and their issues.  NYC and Mayer is doing everything to help these immigrants since there was flooding at the Bronx shelter city is opening 45 emergency shelters in hotels. Mayer Adam declared a state emergency on the migrant crisis when more buses with immigrants started showing up everyday. City asked Texas officials to stop sending busloads of immigrants to New York.

Summarize the Main Idea of Source:

This article reflects on the topic of demographics in immigrant children and how teachers are in a process of better teaching preparation in order to assist the students better. Especially new immigrant children  have struggled to understand their teachers due to the lack of bilingual knowledge. The big question referred to in the article is “Are teachers any more prepared to work with immigrant children?” as it states in the  article. In many ways this question is referred to constantly throughout since it mostly goes through the main struggles and difficulty that immigrant students face when it comes to their own learning education. The article doesn’t only talk about the struggles they face but as well as the positive things they bring into a classroom which is mainly diversity , culture and they’re own way of observing everything they learned.

Summarize the Main Idea of Source:

Throughout the New York Times article it reflects on the idea of how the immigrant population is increasing even more. And how they are also filling up classrooms and the country’s work focus. In the article it also talks about the fact that with a higher degree education anyone can live in a better lifestyle which as a result they can initially achieve and succeed in their goal as well as dreams. However, there are also parts of education that immigrant students and their parents struggle with. The main struggle is trying to fill out school forms which are have become something hard for families to fill  out because they doesn’t know any English. There is also a main topic which is also included in the article student and how they have to be reminded everyday of an expectation that is supposed to be met side most immigrant children in the 20th century are first generation immigrant student who are attending college.
