Providing Over 70 Years of Quality Service to the Hospitality Industry

Weekly Reflection 10/13

The central purpose of the World Central Kitchen is to create solutions to those people who deal with hunger and poverty. Its purpose is to give meals to people in need and to those communities that need support from other people. World Central Kitchen has served many people worldwide, but three communities it has served are Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Venezuela. The World Central Kitchen has served Puerto Rico because of the disaster left after Hurrican Maria hit Puerto Rico. World Central Kitchen has served because it serves those children in the shelters on the border with Mexico. Venezuela has been served because of the refugee crisis that intensifies on the Venezuelan border. The World Central Kitchen has taken education initiatives that help out students and the school. One of the education initiatives they took is that they have a program called École des Chefs, a training program for five months, which prepares young aspiring chefs for their first job in commercial kitchens and local restaurants, and hotels. Another education initiative that they take is that they have a program called Sink to Stove, which works with the school and community cooks to train the students on basic sanitary kitchen and food handling practices to reduce the number of foodborne illnesses. I believe that World Central Kitchen puts efforts toward education because they want other students to succeed. So they can grab the attention of students to get them interested in helping out or in the industry because in the industry one needs new trained chef or workers for in the future we can keep working. Finally, they put their effort towards education to have some skills that will help them out in life and just for the students to learn something new.

I’m inspired by the kids they teach, supporting young people prepares them to realize their potential.
