DCP: Final Graduation Ears

During my last weeks of working at a restaurant, I received training for the front-of-house position. My job entailed reading order numbers from the guests’ receipts and serving them food and drinks in trays. I also had to handle mobile orders and mark them as ready for pickup on a tablet. Additionally, I learned how to fill up the ice machines that dispensed fountain drinks for guests and refill the pumps with ketchup, mayo, and other condiments provided by the restaurant. I also trained for the position of trash runner, which involved filling up bins with trash and moving them to the dumpsters backstage. After my training, I took an exam to demonstrate that I had learned all the material. As my last weeks approached, I applied to take my final bows, which involved taking a picture with Mickey and receiving my graduation ears and alumni pin. In my last two days, I worked the closing shift for Trilo-Bites and said goodbye to the cart I had worked at for my first month. Through my Disney journey, I learned a lot about food and beverage service, quick service, and how Disney works as a company. I came to understand the many guidelines that Disney maintains to keep guests’ experiences magical.
