Micro-Activity # 7: Pick a Model & Organize Your Ideas

The model I chose is a letter. Because I thought speech is relatively public and broader than the letter. I believe that the letter will be more appropriate to convey my personal opinion or argument and to persuade the receiver. The letter also offers the recipient an opportunity to think more about himself and the writer. This letter genre could be used effectively for me to present better ways of running a swimming center.
The five key elements to be included in the letter are:

  • A clear explanation of my complaints, opinions, and arguments.
  • Use concise and powerful sentences, rather than long, meaningless words.
  • To support an argument logically by presenting personal experiences or materials
  • Moves the other person’s heart through an emotional appeal. / Persuade him/her.
  • Clarifying the way the article is developed can be presented in the introduction, body, and conclusion.

My audience is the operators of the swimming center. Because they are not involved in swimming lessons, it is not immediately clear what is lacking or what is wrong with the programs they have created. Because their purpose is not to improve their physical abilities through swimming, which is the purpose of my D/C, but to manage, and produce better profits.
The main point of my letter is that there are two problems, and the first is that there are far fewer instructors than the number of members who take swimming lessons. The second is to provide my opinion on how to prepare for or prevent repeated closing of the center due to the coronavirus. Through the letter, I will first explain the situation of the class I take and include the thoughts of other members, including myself. Through it, the audience will learn about our poor class environment and will be able to sympathize with our situation. It will also allow pool operators and members to come up with ways to overcome the spread of the virus together so that they can provide a better teaching environment for the members.

Haykung–I have very little to offer as this sound clear and thought out. It has really been fine tuned since you first had the idea. The only thought I had as I read your post is–do you have any research about the spread of Covid-19 in pools? Or have you by any chance found what the countries that have successfully reopened have done?
