Mary Wollstonecrafts How to specific view on an equality and how the genre of an equality ( in this era)primarily targeted women. Her dedicatory letter shows that she is a True Believer in that women should be getting the same treatment  and should be subtitled to the same things men are on an equal level. What I think Wollstonecraft wants from the recipient is to make sure that they are  not only well-informed but they actually accept the simple fact that women are treated unjustly and are degraded on many different levels(especially in terms of education). After reading this letter I don’t believe that the recipient is a part of her discourse community due to the simple fact that it honestly seems like she’s trying to be very persuasive in her letter. In my opinion it seems as if she is trying to educate the uneducated.

Quote #1: ¨ In these arguments, sir, I am not trying to get anything for myself; I plead not for myself but for my sex. ·My own personal wants, anyway, amount to very little·. For many years I have regarded independence as the great blessing of life, the basis of every virtue; and even if I end up living on a barren heath, I will always guarantee my independence by contracting my wants.¨

The writing strategy the author is using here is just the position. What is being juxtaposed is the perspective of a woman writing this letter opposed to a man. I chose this quote because although it is something that starts off her letter and may seem a little bit unimportant ,I feel like this is something very strong to start off. The reason being to this is because it goes to show that while writing Mary already had an idea of  what the male perspective would be just beginning to read this letter. This unconsciously shows exactly what it is that she is proving, the simplest of fact that in society the voice of a male perspective is easier heard/understood and less questioned than a womans.

Quote #2: ¨I address you as a legislator: When men fight for their freedom, fight to be allowed to judge for themselves concerning their own happiness, isn’t it inconsistent and unjust to hold women down?”

And this quote I believe that the writing strategy the author uses to persuade her point is irony. I believe that what the school is trying to say is that it is ironic that when a man goes to fight for their rights it is allowed for them to Simply go and fight for what is simply theirs. On the other hand for women it is as if happiness is not something that they are subtitled to. they simply cannot go  and fight for their own humanitarian rights without being questioned.  By saying¨ isn’t it inconsistent and unjust to hold women down¨,  Mary is trying to say that it is unfair to hold women from this right because men so freely can use their right to fight for freedom and happiness.
