The reason she is writing the letter is to push towards promoting rights for women. Wollstonecraft brings up the argument concerning women not being able to âadvance the progress of glorious principles that give a substance to morality.â Wollstonecraft seeâs it as a problem because womenâs natural human rights are being interfered with. She believes that the men are controlling women, the way they should act and behave all while they donât do the same. She believes that is wrong for women to stay living unfairly. Also, she brings up points such as women being denied political rights and duties. Wollstonecraft argues, â I know that you firmly believe you are acting in the manner most likely to promote womenâs happiness; but who made man the exclusive judge of that if woman shares with him the gift of reason?â Wollstonecraftâs discourse group would be the Womenâs Rights Movement. Wollstonecraft would be outside of of it, she is using her letter to reach out to the men and try to inform them.
