Mary Wollstonecraft is writing this letter to M. Talleyrand-Périgord. Wollstonecraft talks about the inequality women receive in society, in which she wants to make changes, speaking up for her people. Men in France have forgotten about being modest themselves and respecting women’s modesty. In the constitution, only men are being praised, not being denied any rights or opportunities. On the other hand, women are denied opportunities because of their sex. She believes to succeed as a country, men can not be the only ones to be taken into mind in the constitution, also women. Equality will also allow for a better relationship between families, in where both men and woman can feel affection for each other not having a miserable life when living together. The oppression women are receiving is nowhere to be justified causing women to seek illicit privileges. I would identify her discourse group to be fighting for equality for women in France.
