Unit 2: Op-Ed Piece

After writing this piece, I have learned many new things. For one, I have learned that you have to dig deep and keep an open mindset while doing research. When I first started doing my research, it was hard for me to find sources that agreed with my opinion. So, I changed my opinion. Afterward, it felt really wrong for me to change my opinion because I knew that my opinion was very valid. Therefore, I did more research and was finally able to find enough sources to support my original opinion. The sources that I found convincing for the opposing side, I used in my counterclaim. I’ve realized it was hard for me to find those sources because of how unspoken my opinion is. It made me realize that my topic should really be a topic that should be spoken about more often.

While writing this piece, it was also hard for me to not speak so formally, but I learned that as a writer, sometimes you have to speak informally so that your readers can fully understand your point.
