Week 1: Course Overview & Annotating Texts

For Wednesday, 8/30

- Read the article “How to Read like a Writer” by Mike Bunn
- Reading/Writing Resource Essay: “Double-Entry Reading Journals” (Butte College). Note: you do not need to bring or read this text. We will use it during class.
Write
- Annotate a printed out or downloaded version of Mike Bunn’s essay.
- Come to class with your annotated text and prepared to use your annotations in a variety of discussion and writing activities.
Other to-do items
- Sign up for OpenLab and join our class site. If you encounter problems, please email me at RGarcia@citytech.cuny.edu.
- Begin to familiarize yourself with the class site: be sure to read the introduction to the course, look over the syllabus, and open and review all course tabs/sections.

- Review City Tech resources: the library, computer labs, the Writing Center, OpenLab resources (The OpenLab for Students)
