To learn more about First Year Writing at City Tech, start here.

Literature and Creative Writing:

The department offers 26 classes in literature and writing at the 2000- and 3000- levels. All of the department’s literature classes are designated WI (Writing Intensive). A WI designation at City Tech means, among other things, that a class incorporates writing as a pedagogical tool for learning about course content. You can find out more about WI classes through Writing Across the Curriculum. At City Tech, you do not need to be WI-Certified to teach a WI class.

You can see the descriptions of all the 2000- and 3000-level classes here; note that each description will tell you the prerequisites for that course as well as any designations it fulfills for students (such as Writing Intensive, Interdisciplinary, or the various Pathways categories). There are no model courses for these classes, though faculty are often happy to share the syllabi, assignments, and strategies they’ve used when teaching them. Each course description includes a link to the specific learning outcomes for that class.
