Your City Tech Email Address

Your City Tech Microsoft 365 account provides you with access to many Microsoft apps and programs, including Outlook, which is our email platform. Please check your email regularly! Your email account will be the primary way the college will communicate with you, including sending time-sensitive requests and invitations from the department as well as important contract and payroll information, announcements, etc. from the college at large. You should also make every effort to communicate with your students using your City Tech account.

The user name for your email address and your CUNYFirst login follows the pattern firstname.lastname+the last two digits of your EMPLID. (e.g. jane.doe22@…)

To set up your email account, you will use your CUNYFirst login and password. For users who do not have a CUNYfirst login, please email Sandra Williams (Office of Faculty & StaffRelations) slwilliams@citytech.cuny.edu with your completed POI form attached, or reach out to Lily (lily.lam33@citytech.cuny.edu) for more information.

Here are the instructions from the IT Department for how to log in to a new email account:

  • Log into your new Email through the M365 Outlook application here: https://login.microsoftonline.com . Use your CUNYFirst login and password.
  • New Email Login: CUNYfirstID@login.cuny.edu (example:Olive.Tree99@login.cuny.edu)
  • New Email Password: Existing CUNYfirst password
  • Once you are in the system, you will be prompted to authenticate your account. The “More information required” box will appear; click “Next.” 
  • You will be prompted to the “Additional security verification” page.
  • Select “Authentication phone” and select your country or region (e.g.: United States +1). 
  • Enter your phone number and select your method of receiving a code via call or text message. Then click “Next.” You can add more than one number.
  • Enter the verification code and click “Verify.” Click “Done” when the verification is successful.
  • Please note that the system uses a multifactor authentication system, so you will be required to enter a code sent via text or call to log in whenever you use a new device or after a break from using your account.
  • Your email address will be FName.LName##@citytech.cuny.edu

How to Set Up Outlook on a Mobile Device:

Note: If prompted to choose ‘Account Type,’ select Office 365 

Install the ‘Outlook for Android’ app from the Google Play Store. Open Outlook for Android. Click ‘Add Account.’ If you have another account listed, click ‘Skip This Account.’ Follow steps 1 – 3. 

OR

Install the ‘‘Outlook for iOS’ app from the App Store. Open Outlook for iOS. Click ‘Add Account.’ Follow steps 1 – 3. 

  1. Enter Your Email address (FName.LName##@citytech.cuny.edu). 
  2. You will be redirected to the CUNYfirst login page. Enter your CUNYfirst Login (FName.LName##@login.cuny.edu) then tap “Next.” Choose MFA choice of phone call or text message. 
  3. After Verification methods, the approval screen will be displayed for you to start using the App. 

To Access on-Campus Windows Computers

Use the College Active Directory (AD) UserID and password to log onto the computer. Your UserID will be your first initial and last name (case sensitive! example: OTree). Once you have logged onto the computer, you will be prompted to create a new Outlook Email profile. Enter your new email address and click ‘Connect’. When prompted, enter your new Email Login and password.
