The Department of English is one of the largest departments at the College. Typically, the department offers around 210 sections of writing and literature classes in the Fall semester and around 180 sections in the Spring. A small number of classes are offered in the Summer sessions as well.

The Department runs the College Writing Center, which is located on the sixth floor of the General Building. The Writing Center provides tutoring to all students who want help with writing, not just those enrolled in English courses.
