Research paper Final Draft

Introduction: Though out the years diabetes has affected multiple people.diabetes is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure ,heart attacks , strokes and lower limb amputation. In 2019 1.5 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes. Diabetes is  chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot produce insulin at all. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar. I picked this topic because so many people in my life have been affected by diabetes like both sides of my family and my best friend.I was diagnosed at the age of nine. what I hope to learn is different ways to stay healthy.

Jane E. Brody ‘Beating back the risk of diabetes’ https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/15/beating-back-the-risk-of-diabetes/?referrer=masthead

Analysis:  Jane E. Brody wrote this article to make people aware of the amount of children at risk of developing diabetes. she conducted a research to show its elevated risk. In her article she gives tips to avoid drastic measures like concentrating  your food choices and gradually reduce portion sizes.

Response: Jane E. Brody did a good job conducting her research. i would definitely recommend this article to someone whos is a diabetic. reading this article i have learned a lot of tips. about things i should stay away from and things that will benefit me.

Nicholas Bakalar “A Meal Schedule for Diabetes” https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/05/15/a-meal-schedule-for-diabetes/?referrer=masthead

Summary: This article speaks about a case study that was completed to support the theory that diabetics can eat large portions without causing harm to the body. experts recommend small meals as a better way to control metabolism. The differences were not dramatic. The research conducted presented addition benefits consuming larger portion have for diabetes such as lower liver fat content, fasting glucose levels and better insulin sensitivity.

Analysis:  Nicholas Bakalar wrote this article For people with type 2 diabetes to show that eating two large meals a day may be better than consuming the same number of calories in six small meals. In the research he conducted it showed that indeed consuming larger portions haves a better effect on diabetics. it has multiple benefits for type 2 diabetes that will help in the future.

Response: I personally think this article is help for many people, I myself did not know that eating larger meals could benefit diabetics. I would have that thought that eating six set meals a day would have been beneficial

Research Project final draft

Introduction:The diversity and complexity of Asian Americans are significantly higher than that of other ethnic groups. Asian groups from different Asian regions and with different educational backgrounds often differ greatly in socioeconomic status, and their political, religious, and cultural barriers are quite deep, and they are quite alienated from each other. This has caused Asians to have insufficient say in American politics and social life. People should not do anything to hurt people. You can not think Asians brought the virus. Don’t think that every Asian is a bad guy.

Rosa, “Attacks Against Asian New Yorkers: What to Know”  www.nytimes.com/2021/03/23/nyregion/asian-new-yorkers-attacks.html The New York Times, March 23, 2021

Summary:In this article, the author describes a number of recent terrorist attacks caused by discrimination against Asians. In 2019, there were 29 terrorist attacks against people of Asian descent, because they hated Asians and believed that Asian victims carried coronavirus. So hundreds of people formed protest groups in New York City to protest “Racism is a Virus” and “Stop Asian Hate” protests.

Analysis:
Amanda Rosa wrote this article to make people aware of the seriousness of racial discrimination, not only Asian discrimination but also serious consequences. I learned about the attack cases around the world from her article. When she mentioned that people protested against discrimination through parades, you could feel that people were powerless to resist the terrible cases of discrimination. Although the parades may cause traffic impact in some aspects, they still showed the spirit of the author and people protesting against discrimination.

Response:This article presents many, many horror cases of Asian discrimination, both recent and previous, there has been a steady succession of horror attacks on Asians and so real that terrorist attacks happen around us. Not long ago, I saw through a short video that a black man strangled an Asian man until he suffocated and fainted on the subway floor. This warns us not to go out alone as much as possible, and not to go out alone at night. Even discrimination that is not specific to Asians may be hurt.

MLA: Beth Mirza.”Asian Americans Face Violence, Workplace Discrimination” https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/hr-topics/behavioral-competencies/global-and-cultural-effectiveness/pages/asian-american-workplace-discrimination.aspx March 22, 2021

Summary: The author of this article tells us that six of the eight people killed in the Atlanta spa shooting were Asian women, and the shooter shot them for no reason. It also tells us that because of the influence of novel coronavirus, the crime of discrimination against Asian people in 2020 has increased by 150% compared with that in 2019, and tells us how to prevent ourselves from being harmed by discrimination against Asian people.

Analysis: Beth Mirza wrote this article, exposing the insecurity of workers who contribute to society in the midst of a widespread epidemic of discrimination because the author knows that they may need to earn money to support their families so they take risks to work not only to overcome the epidemic but also to be attacked by the discriminators. The author even shared several ways to prevent discrimination, which left readers heartbroken, and even a few small details could have prevented a discrimination attack.

Response: This article gives me a strange feeling because it is absurd that service personnel who make contributions to society are still discriminated against. And a threat to other people’s personal safety is really ridiculous.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe that not only in the United States but all over the world, discrimination is caused by color, religion, culture, race. I want people not to sit back and wait for death, but to rise up and change the prejudice, the world is a family and that if people kill each other, it’s no different than an animal.

Research Paper Final

People are avoiding taking the trains due to the pandemic and crimes in subways that escalated tremendously. individuals sense that their lives are at stake when it comes to public transportation. Some rather walk miles to place which may require long hours just to evade going to into the subway stations. This is a serious matter because this virus can not only complicate your health but can also be fatal. Coronavirus can be 10x harder on people who already have health problems. When selfish people disobey face mask law and come onto the train without a mask or have it resting on their chin instead of covering their mouth and nose the correct way which can put the other individual lives at risk.

MLA: Goldbaum, Christina  “Riders Ditch The Subway As Fear Spreads”.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/nyregion/coronavirus-subway-public-transit.html?searchResultPosition=1The New York Times,  March 15, 2021.

Summary: In this article, many people of all ages going either to work or school congest bridges and bike lanes in the agitation of Coronavirus spreading throughout the subway stations. In early March near the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak 2020, there had already been nearly 330 people infected in the state. On the grounds of this, riders abandon public transit to protect themselves and their family from any possible exposure to the virus. MTA experts dread what the decrease in riders can do to metropolitan transportation authorities horrifying finances as coronavirus continue to manifest.

Analysis: Christina Goldbaum published this article to express her thoughts on the pandemic being faced and how it affects not only us but New York City’s way of getting around.  MTA’s buses, subways, and trains were greatly depended upon to move individuals from one place to another. After the COVID-19 virus transpired the percentage of ridership decreased immensely. The article gives its readers a different interpretation of things because, Goldbaum was a former foreign freelance journalist whose now a transit reporter covering ferries, buses, commuter rails, bicycles, and all the other ways of getting around New York.

Response: i think christina did a beautiful job at getting her point across. Reading these article i felt that ditching the subway in fear of the spread of COVID-19 was a smart idea because as it spread it will only get worse. Its best to avoid any possible way of contacting Covid-19

MLA: Goldbaum, Christina “The Subway Needs Riders To Save It. Will They?”.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/22/nyregion/nyc-subway-coronavirus.html?searchResultPosition=6 The New York Times, March 22, 2021.

Summary: In this article as the COVID-19 virus unfolded to New York City workers feared for MTA’s financial future as they watched crowds on the platforms slowly vanish. The early last year 2020, conductors Adrienne Crespo witnessed the virus evacuate subway stations of all its riders, infect a vast amount of transit workers, and left MTA with financial debt. Now in 2021, MTA’s debts ease as federal aid and President Biden’s sweeping rescue plan keeps MTA flowing. This eventually leads to the Metropolitan Transportation authority’s endurance depending on two things, the boarding of passengers and their fare. MTA addressed the worries of writers making people feel at peace in subway stations bringing back on the ridership.

Analysis: Christina Goldbaum wrote this article to notify people on how ridership change from before things unraveled with the virus and now. It also emphasizes the seriousness of the post pandemic future of New York City transportation system.  After the author discusses future plans with restoring MTA’s rideship percentage, things slowly shift as masks are being enforced in handed out and subway stations are being closed down at graveyard hours for disinfecting.

Response: this article makes me feel a little relief because MTA is restoring it’s subway stations. Not only are they trying to lower the risk of anyone getting COVID-19 by shutting it down to disinfect, but they are still trying to proceed with future plans to upgrade our transportation carts and buses and they were slightly relieved of debt.
