My English class has been nice. I have been joining every single meeting and had been doing my work every day. I learned how to think freely in this class and also, how to turn any experience into writing. Something that is different about this class is free writes. I have never written free writes in any other English class. I think free writes are little challenges because it is writing a story from your own experience. I think they helped me reflect on myself more. I have written almost all the free writes in this class. And I also finished my research project. Right now I have to do my letter to the magazine. So far it is coming out nice.

Dear, New York Times I wanted to Get clothes recycling to your attention. I think the editors need to learn more about this subject since the editors are not writing about it more than they should. Clothes are dangerous to the environment and I think we should recycle them or make other alternatives such as environment-friendly clothes. Clothes waste is causing damage to the environment. The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry. if we don’t control the waste it will just keep increasing and keep damaging the earth. We need to support the small companies that are helping with the problem and also create more companies. According to New York Times, “the equivalent of one garbage truck full of clothes is burned or dumped in a landfill every second”, This Shows how worst it is getting. And some researchers say that the problem won’t finish unless we produce less.
The clothes waste is getting out of control. We need to take action now. According to Can Recycled Rugs Fix Fashion’s Waste Problem?,” Tucked away in the bowels of the Brooklyn Army Terminal is a 4,000-square-foot warehouse filled from wall to wall and floor to ceiling with garbage bags”. They contain castoffs from New York’s fashion studios, This shows how there is so much clothes garbage just staying in one place. By recycling, We can use this garbage and turn it into something productive that will help the people and the environment. Without recycling, We don’t have another way. If we don’t recycle the garbage it will just keep adding up and soon we will not have a place to store it. According to the article can recycled rags fix the fashion waste problem “The organization has collected close to half and million pounds of fabric from the design studio and their discards have been shredded and recycled into stuffing and insulation or resold to fashion students” This shows that the clothes garbage is being used by recycling it and selling it to the students. In this way, it can have a positive effect on fashion students.
The government needs to support the small companies. According to the New York Times article “Clothing production globally roughly doubled from 2000 to 2015, and at the same time number of times a garment was worn declined”, This shows how the production of clothes increased But also there was an increase in people trashing their garments. A lot of companies are overproducing they don’t see the other way. We need to inform these companies of the damage they are causing. On the other hand, some companies are trying to fulfill people’s needs but also encouraging their customers to keep the garments out of the trash. According to Can Recycled Rugs Fix Fashion’s Waste Problem, “Nearly 6000 pounds of textile scraps to be inspected, sorted, and recycled by five staffers and many more volunteers at FabScraps” This shows by recycling so many clothes have been used productively rather than making pollution also it shows how much small companies are having a good influence on the environment. We need to appreciate the small companies that are doing good for the environment so they would keep doing their job and other companies could get lessons from them.
Many Clothes are non-sustainable and contain potentially dangerous chemicals in their clothing that can have a bad effect on the environment. So Some Companies are also inventing new materials to make clothes that are environmentally friendly. I think recycling is making us humans improve our technology and making us think differently. Some Companies are making clothes all plant-based rather than animal. Eco-friendly dyes are used in these clothes. According to Fashion Trends Are Often Recycled Now More Clothing Can Be, Too”Several companies, for example, are developing alternatives to leather, since hides are particularly problematic, from the methane-producing cows that produce it to tanning methods that often involve toxic chemicals like chromium. This shows that companies are producing leather that is plant-based that does not contain toxic chemicals like chromium which affects the air quality and has many bad effects on the environment.
In conclusion, we can learn a lot about our environment through our clothes since the clothing industry is one of the most polluting. We need to use environmentally friendly materials to produce clothes. I think we need to be more careful with our future. Because if it is getting out of control right now imagine what will it do in the future so we need to take steps right now. Recycling is the number one thing that we can do rather than clothes being garbage and be bad for the environment. we can reuse them and resell them. which is a positive thing. I think it is very important for the government and the people to support our small clothes recycling companies because they are the ones who are making big positive changes in our environment. They are making clothes with environmentally friendly materials and they play a big part in recycling clothes.
Being corontine was a hard thing in the beginning because I had to stay home all day and I am an athlete. I could not go to practices anymore or hang out with my friends also missed the half of senior year the prom, senior trip, etc. when I look back at it it was a hard journey. But later it helped me a lot it made me think in different ways. I was not hanging out with my friends anymore because we were not allowed to go out but it was still face-timing them. It made me do things in different ways. I got to catch up with my family more. I got closer to god. And it also gave me a lot of time to think about myself and also made me read and learn different skills.
