While at work the Sales Manager at my job offered me this pastry that they sell where she lives, the packaging states OEC and says almond pastry. At first I did not know what to expect but I was going to taste it and I am glad that I did. While opening the packaging it looked just like a regular cracker. It was crunchy and had a sweetness to it that was not over powering though.  I believe it had what tasted like sesame seed inside it as well.  I decided to do some research on this brand and item and I found out that it was vegan. Overall I really enjoyed this. I think something like this would pair well with some coffee or hot chocolate.

Last week in class one of the groups that presented brought in Arepas. I have seen them before especially at things such as the 5th ave fair but never got the chance to try one. I was glad that I was able to try it and it was delicious. It consisted of corn and cheese as well as sour cream and cheese on the top as well. The flavors all blended together perfectly.    After trying it in class it makes me want to try them while they are hot.  I also remember in that groups presentation they mentioned the “arepa lady” located in Queens, I did research on her and found so many pictures of the arepas she makes and they look amazing. This summer I will be planning on making a stop there to get some.

I never before have went to Jackson Heights before, it was a great experience going with some good items to try. My favorite item was the Colombian pastry as well as the Dumplings we tried. Those two were my top faves. I did not really enjoy the sweets too much though. I also enjoyed going into Patel Brothers it was so interesting seeing so many different types of ingredients I also found a rice specifically for diabetics which was interesting. Seeing how many vegetables and fruits they had was also interesting. I also saw what many of us know as cilantro it was called something else. Overall  I really enjoyed this trip to Jackson Heights and I really am looking forward to going back there to find more items to try.

When we went on the trip to Jackson Heights we were able to try these amazing dumplings from a food truck. They were absolutely delicious.  I had dumplings before but these were by far the best so far. They had so much flavor, I was able to try the chicken one but they had many others to choose from. The prices were great too. That is perfect for a grab and go.I wouldn’t mind taking another trip to Jackson Heights to try the other types of dumplings they have.

I was able to try Ramen for the first time and no I am not talking about Ramen Noodles that we buy in the supermarket. I have always wanted to try Ramen and I was so happy when I finally got the chance too. When I first got my bowl of Ramen it smelled so good, as I mixed it I began to eat and it was so delicious the noodles were just right and the slice of pork in there was perfection. It wasn’t salty it was just right. I know this restaurant has different types of ramen there is also one that is spicy so the next time I go back I now know what to order. All the flavors in one bowl its too hard to pass up.
