Kitchen towel 
Kitchen Cutting board background
The first photo i used a kitchen towel and the second i used a cutting board. I think the Kitchen towel was more effective because it created a subtle diffused light. I decided to take these photos by my kitchen window.
The towel may also b reflecting a bit more light up so that the onions don’t appear so dark.
