Also this semester, while museums may be closed,  but you still view great art outside in NYC Parks. The Art in the Parks Program run by NYC has a listing of all public art exhibitions around town at https://www.nycgovparks.org/art. Also, most museums have virtual resources, exhibits and design archives to visit.  Check out the Brooklyn Museum of Art’s site as well The Cooper Hewitt and many other venues around town. A great site to find out what is going on around town is from Time Out magazine at https://www.timeout.com/newyork/art.

The Society of Illustrators has exhibits regularly that you should plan on visiting. In addition, they run sketch night on Tuesdays and lectures on that evening also. The exhibits and events are for all studying communication design, but the Sketch nights are especially those of you interested in illustration. Draw-Mania are monthly events for figure drawing held in different locations throughout NYC.

For those of you interested in advertising, there is the Interactive Advertising Bureau website has resources and white papers that are very valuable for you in getting a sense of the advertising business.

There is also a wealth of public art in parks and squares around town. See https://www.nycgovparks.org/art for a listing of what’s new in public art installations around town. These are always interesting exhibits to visit on your travels around NYC. They may even be a few of these works near your neighborhood.

The Standard, a series of publications by the Sappi Paper Company that are excellent design references. They are all available for free on their site. They also sponsor a design competition called Ideas that Matter and it is well worth reviewing for inspiration.
