The first idea of a memorial photograph was the art of portraits then in the early 19th century the first real photograph was created by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. Today we have new and improved photography tool that is easy to use and used by everyone everyday. People today use them for selfies and social media apps such as instagram, Snapchat and etc. Cindy Sherman is known for taking pictures of herself through instagram but not without distorting them in her own way making them really interesting and artistic photos.
Selfies for me are a way to show once expression or with the extra features like filters that can make your photo brighter, turn different colors or even black and white. One more extra fun feature can make your eyes big or on fire, make you look like part puppy, and soon more will rise for others to enjoy. Another thing that has changed is when we can capture portraits of ourselves when ever we want like example an event could be of themselves in a roller coaster or skydiving. A great example of all I have said would be Cindy Sherman’s way of expressing her ideas and creativity within her photos.
