Selene Soto Ortega: Selfies Breaking Rules

Selfies are a new way to express who you are. It is not bad to have your portrait (selfie) the way you like it. However, selfies tend to be real and not real because many things are going on behind that selfie which you were looking a few minutes ago. Because we do not know how long it took for someone to get that perfect photo, a perfect lighting, the outfit, get makeup done or choose the perfect selfie from his/her album.Or the party photo that you saw where they were having fun but did that party ended the way the photo was posted. From my point of view, selfies try to represent something that we are, but at the same time who you want to be. It is visible through gestures, the caption or the effect you put on it.But sometimes selfies aren’t the as they are in real person, but I had to admit they know how to use a camera                                                                                                                                 In the case of Cindy Sherman, she takes selfies’ stereotypes. Most of the selfies you see on Instagram show someone’s beauty. What Sherman does is distorting her face to produce the different masks that we had and through effects represent a new way of interpreting art by just being curious with your fingers. For some people might be ugly or weird but nowadays selfies can express many things, but not all of them show the unattractive of your beauty.
